Hebrews 12: 1-11  Boxing in God’s Gym: The Old One-Two

 

 

 

Hebrews 12:1 Let us  lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us

 

 

2 fixing our eyes on Jesus

 

3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

 

 

4 You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving boxing against sin;

 

 

5 and you have forgotten the exhortation dialog which is addressed to you as sons,

 

 

 

“My son, do not regard lightly despise the discipline developmental training of the Lord,

 

 

 

Nor faint become weak-kneed when you are reproved re-proved by Him;

 

 

 

6 For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines developmentally trains,

 

 

And He scourges develops every son whom He receives.”

 

 

Psalm 84:11 No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly who are the righteous

 

 

11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful;

 

yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

 

Lamentations 5:17 Because of this our heart is faint,

 

Because of these things our eyes are dim

3:8 Even when I cry out and call for help, He shuts out my prayer

 

 

3:7 He has walled me in so that I cannot go out. He has made my chain heavy

 

 

James 1:2-4 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing proving of your faith produces endurance resilience. And let endurance resilience have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
